Maritime Security

Maritime Security has always been an important element within the Security Industry, although not widely publicized and often over shadowed by other more prominent sectors. However with the recent rise in Smuggling and Piracy in the Gulf of Aden and waters surrounding the Somalian Coastline it has been thrust into the media headlight.

Global piracy attacks this year to date have exceeded the total for 2008 after a surge in incidents off the coast of Somalia. (Source: the International Maritime Bureau) The Bureau's Piracy Reporting Centre was notified of 306 attacks in January through September, compared with 293 during all of last year. The number of attacks in the Indian Ocean off the Somali coast more than tripled to 47, from 12 in the same period a year earlier. There were 100 incidents in the Gulf of Aden, up from 51; from these figures it is clear that despite the efforts of the International Community this threat is growing.

The Gulf of Aden is a vital shipping route utilized by a multitude of corporations from shippers of Middle East oil to Asian-made goods destined for Europe. Therefore AssureRMSS offers the following Maritime Security Services:
